Signs in the garden
- Clusters of green, black, or pale insects near growing tips.
- Leaves may cup, curl, or yellow where feeding is heavy.
- Ants sometimes “farm” aphids for honeydew.
What often helps (general)
- A strong spray of water dislodges many colonies on sturdy plants.
- Encourage beneficial insects (lady beetles, lacewings) by avoiding broad sprays.
- Remove heavily infested tips on annuals if the plant can branch out.
When to escalate
If plants stop growing, flowers/fruit fail repeatedly, or you rely on edibles and are unsure what is safe to apply, check your local extension office label guidance.
